The Fire Safety Day (October 11, 2015) was a great success. Approximately 200 people participated and enjoyed a hot dog barbecue. There were many events planned, including an auto extrication; Memorial Star Flight for Life Helicopter Transport; Smoke Trailer and many instructional events. The participants had the opportunity to experience the E911 safety trailer which offers a fun way of learning what to do in case of different types of emergencies. The community was shown Fire Departments skills and abilities with an extrication demonstration. With coordination from your Fire Engine 3410, the City of Colorado Springs and the Med Star helicopter a victim “Actor” was extricated from a crashed vehicle and flown to the hospital as if they were a critical patient. Children’s Colorado was at the event with specific information to help keep your kids safe.
