Mike

Hello, I’m Michael Cantin.  I have lived in Colorado Centre since 1998 when my family and I moved here to be stationed at Fort Carson.  In 2001, after 20 years of service, I retired from the U. S. Army with the rank of Master Sergeant.  I currently work for the U.S. Forest Service as an Electronics Technician.  While serving in the U. S. Army, I established and maintained radio communications networks.  I continue to work in this capacity with the U.S. Forest Service.  I have an Associate’s degree in general studies.

I have served on the Board of Directors for Colorado Centre Metropolitan District (CCMD) since 2002. Shortly after being appointed to the CCMC Board, I assumed the Director’s position to the Lower Fountain Metropolitan Sewage Disposal District (LFMSDD).  During my time on these two boards, CCMD has gone from contracting the services for water, waste water and fire protection to providing its own water through our own wells.  We treat our own waste water by being a co-owner of the LFMSDD Waste Water Treatment Facility and we now have our own first responders reducing our response time from 17/18 minutes to fewer than 5.  The district has accomplished these services by saving money first instead of borrowing it through burdensome bonds.

I have also worked with our County Commissioner, State Representative and State Senator to fight burdensome regulations that would drive-up rate costs.  I have helped in putting CCMD on the map for many local and state entities through political and social groups.  I am currently the Chairman of State House District 15 of the Republican Party which gives me access to more local and state officials.

I believe that by being reelected to the Board of Directors I can continue to serve CCMD by improving the district’s services and status within the county and state.
